
Jennifer has always wanted to become a multi-tasking star. As a child she was fascinated by a myriad different musical styles, but mainly Afro-Caribbean rhythms like salsa, merengue and bachata. She also enjoyed mainstream music like pop, hip-hop and R&B. She was an avid fan of films and music. West Side Story, a musical written by Rita Moreno (1961), was her most significant source of inspiration. At 5, Jennifer began taking singing and dancing lessons. Jennifer is also an entertainer and a Catholic schoolgirl, attended for eight years at Holy Family Catholic elementary school in The Bronx. After a four-year stay, she graduated from Preston High School, an all-girls prep school. Jennifer did well in sports during her time at school, and was a champion in tennis as well as track and field. Her home in the Castle Hill neighbourhood was her residence for the majority of her adult life. Jennifer was forced to leave her house at age was 18 and moved in with her family. Lopez was employed in the law office, while also dancing during the night.
